Dark vertical streaks down the face of a gutter can make an otherwise clean house look neglected, and a standard house wash will not remove them.
Gutter exterior cleaning is the cleaning of the outside face of a home's gutters, where runoff leaves dark vertical streaks behind. Standard Power Washing treats it as a job of its own and quotes it separately from a house wash.
Those streaks are called tiger striping. Rainwater running off the roof carries residue down the outside of the gutter, and the lines it leaves follow the path the water took.
Tiger striping is not the same problem as the algae and mildew on your walls. That is why it survives a normal house wash, however well the siding comes out, and why it needs a dedicated treatment of its own.
Gutters are one of several details that quietly date a house. Soffits, fascia, porch ceilings and the undersides of the eaves collect cobwebs and growth in spots that are plain to see from the front walk yet rarely get looked at up close. A house wash takes care of the soffits and eaves; the striping on the gutter face is the part that needs extra attention.
Because it is quoted as a separate treatment, gutter exterior cleaning can be booked on its own. It fits best alongside a house wash or a roof cleaning, since setup and pack-down are then paid for once instead of twice. Roof cleaning also sends loosened growth down into the gutters, which is one more reason to schedule the two together.
